Tip 1- Start pushing your child’s entire routine forward today by 15 minutes. This means not only do you push their sleep times (naps, bedtime, all of it) forward, but you want to be sure to push meals forward as well. A child’s entire routine has to shift. A day later move the entire day an additional 15 min. Do that two more times and by Saturday you should be at the point of your full day being an hour later than normal.
Tip 2-Make sure that bedroom is pitch black. Especially now when you struggle with wake up time being an hour earlier, you don’t want a drop of light sneaking in through the window and telling your child it’s time to wake. Contractor trash bags are a great temporary solution.

Finally, realize that it still may (despite your best efforts) take a full week for your child to adapt to the new schedule. It’s really hard working against a pattern that your child has been in for 6 months, so give yourselves a break and hang in there until the new routine takes hold.
